Contemporary art photography includes a wide range of artistic practices and since the 1980s has become a major force in the contemporary art world. This one-day course will present a selective overview, addressing art movements like the Dusseldorf School, strategies of constructing reality, the continued power of the documentary and the revival of ancient photographic techniques. The course coincides with the Photography sale at Christie’s New York and is aimed at collectors,or those who have an interest in contemporary photography. The day begins with morning lectures by program director Marisa Kayyem, followed by a specialist-led visit to preview the works that will be featured at auction.
