Christie's Education has been proudly partnering with the Harris Academy since 2012 with the aim of sharing our passion for art and education with their students.
Every year Christie’s Education welcomes two hundred and fifty students from Harris Academy to participate in a unique academic experience. Over nine months the pupils engage in both theoretical and practical activities which focus on art history and the art market. Beginning with an introduction to Western Art History, students analyse and handle authentic artworks and relics. They then attend an interactive lecture which traces the journey of an auction lot and a day in the life of a specialist. Using the knowledge they have acquired, pupils build their very own gallery space and pitch supporting marketing proposals. The course is concluded with an auction of Harris Academy artworks, a sale which is conducted and delivered by the students themselves. All profits go to a charity selected by the students, last year this was Cardboard Citizens.More information on the Harris Academy can be found on the Harris Federation website
