Explore the Victorian Rebellion of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (PRB). Millais, Rossetti and Hunt formed the PRB and infused modernity to the artistic establishment being inspired by the past.
This four-day short course will discuss the art that immortalised the dualities that the PRB embraced: medievalism and modernity, painting and literature, realism and fiction, moralism and pathos, love and death.
We will be discussing the PRB masterpieces in London and the University of Oxford.
What you will discover:
In depth knowledge of the key PRB artists and masterpieces (and not only).
Ability to discuss the specific elements that characterize PRB art
Ability to understand the general context of the Victorian academic establishment and the artistic avant-garde
