Making Masterpieces Live at Christies
This three-day course on the history of western European painting is designed to explore the history of materials and techniques along with their impact on the production and nature of images. Sessions combine informal lectures and practical demonstrations aimed at getting a better understanding of how masterpieces were made.

The Stuff of Paint - The first day will focus on different kinds of painting materials and techniques, including fresco, egg tempera and oil painting.

Beneath the Surface - The second da of this course will look at techniques and uses of drawing including silverpoint, picking and pouncing, pen and ink, charcoals, chalks and pastels.
Friday, 01 October 2021
Here it is Again - The third day of the course will focus on painting making, we will look at different techniques, including woodcut, engraving, etching and lithography.
