Interest in the arts of China has never been greater. This three-day programme will provide you with an introduction to Chinese art, particularly early art and archaeology, calligraphy and painting, and ceramics. You will look at the development of Chinese aesthetic principles in morning illustrated lectures, followed by exploring objects first-hand in the afternoons, enabling you to enhance your visual literacy and confidence in evaluating Chinese works of art.
London has some of the finest collections of Chinese art, with viewing sessions planned at the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and London galleries specialising in the arts of China. By the end of the course you will have developed not only an appreciation for one of the world’s greatest artistic traditions, but also a greater discernment of Chinese art in a variety of media. This programme is also a perfect platform for further studies in the Arts of China.
